چکیده

Pomegranate is a long-known edible fruit with medicinal properties. Helminth infections are among the most common human illnesses worldwide, due to lack of suitable sanitary systems and safe drinking water sources. Although these seldom deadly, they cause development limitations in children, which damage their school performance make them susceptible other illnesses. The present study has been conducted investigate anthelmintic activity silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from peel extract (PPE-AgNPs). Also, cytotoxicity PPE-AgNPs was tested liver (Huh7), colon (HCT116) breast (MDA-MB 231) cancer lines. Three doses were used (5, 2.5 1.25 mg/ml) PPE-AgNPs. Eisenia fetida as model worm. Mebendazole reference drug. Phytochemical analysis using FT-IR showed presence 13 compounds. In all tests, dose-dependent effectiveness shown. efficient dose, 5mg/ml time paralysis death 8.118 ± 0.26 9.338 0.14 min, respectively. treated worms, histological examination revealed significant malformation surface architecture worms. We conclude that strong properties low cytotoxicity, stimulating its use biomedical field.

The role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.

Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...

INVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...

Punica granatum attenuates Angiotensin-II induced hypertension in Wistar rats

Acute subcutaneous administration of angiotensin-II (Ang II-150μg/kg) causes a rise in blood pressure in normal Wistar rats. Administration of Punica granatum juice extract (PJ100 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg; p.o.) for 4 weeks in angiotensin-II treated rats significantly (P<0.05) reduced the mean arterial blood pressure and vascular reactivity changes to various catecholamines. PJ treatment significant...
